The electroacoustic absorber is an electroacoustic device for controlling the acoustic impedance of a closed-box electrodynamic loudspeaker diaphragm. Using a dedicated electrical circuit (shunt, feedback...), the parameters of the resonator are modified to optimize the energy absorption according to the room specifications in which the loudspeaker diaphragm radiates. A particular advantage of this concept is its adaptation to the absorption of room modes at low frequencies, for which no solution of the state of the art is really efficient.

In this context, the proposed work is to study the acoustic performances of a set of electroacoustic absorbers, used to equalise some modes in a tested room. The study will focus on the following points:

  • Proposition of a procedure for psychoacoustic evaluation of the influence of electroacoustic absorbers on streaming music with candidates;
  • Implementation of the procedure (MATLAB programming, electronic interface for controlling the electroacoustic absorbers…);
  • Realization of the subjective study;
  • Analysis of results.
